Obesity increases chance of miscarriage

Obesity appears to increase the risk of miscarriage, according to a new study.
“Obesity has been described as the new worldwide epidemic, and as the (rate) of obesity increases, so does the number of women of reproductive age who are becoming overweight and obese,” Dr. Mostafa Metwally and colleagues from the University of Sheffield, UK, write.
“Overweight and obese women were 67 percent more likely to have a miscarriage.”
The investigators conducted a review of articles published in medical journals over the last few decades to identify studies that compared normal-weight and overweight women who miscarried. The main outcome measure was pregnancy loss at less than 20 weeks. (more…)
Chloe Marshall’s Got Talent

Earlier this year Plus Size model Chloe Marshall shot to fame in the Miss England 2008 competition.
Becoming the first ever plus size entrant Chloe wowed the general public with her gorgeous curves and positive attitude, managing to secure 2nd place in the grand final.
As part of the competition Chloe needed to showcase a talent. She did this is the style of an old black and white comedy sketch, showing off her talents of acting and performing beautician treatments. (more…)
Men are the fattest sex!

The proportion of adults in England who are overweight has soared over the past 15 years with one in four now seriously overweight.
However, the number of overweight women has fallen in recent years while the number of morbidly obese men is rising.
“Men are notoriously bad at looking after their health.”
Health experts believe the narrowing obesity gap shows how schemes to tackle the country’s weight problem are having less effect on men, with women more likely to go on diets or join a gym. (more…)
Tall People Meet In Kanses City To Tell Tall Tales

There are a lot of people to look up to in Kansas City this weekend. They are members of Tall Clubs from across the country.
They are men who are taller than 6-foot-2 and women taller than 5-foot-10.
“When you’re different — tall, overweight, handicapped or something — you develop a thick skin.”
The tall people are here to socialize, to fundraise and to make people of all sizes aware of issues that affect very tall people. (more…)
Lose A Million Pounds!

It seems the city of Liverpool is setting an ambitious example for the rest of the UK, after launching the Lose A Million campaign.
It’s aim is simple; to improve the health and wellbeing of residents living and working in Liverpool by losing 1 million pounds in weight!
The obesity epidemic is well and truly here. In Liverpool alone, it is estimated more than 76,000 adults are now dangerously overweight and more than 13,000 children are dangerously obese. (more…)
